Growing marijuana is going to be very complicated if you do not know how to germinate seeds correctly. It is an essential phase in the growth and development of the plant and, although it is not that complicated, it is important to consolidate good germination.

The effort is worth it. If you use your cannabis paraphernaliasurely you know how to value the quality of the plant, among other reasons, for that specific care you have offered at the time of germinating its seeds.

How to germinate seeds at home

We are going to detail three methods on how to germinate seeds at home, for which you hardly need materials and that you will find very simple to do. Choose the one you prefer or try several of them, to see the different options they offer you.

In any case, to germinate seeds at home keep in mind that with all methods you must ensure that the seeds are protected from light, with the appropriate levels of humidity and heat and also that they have a quality oxygenated substrate.

Germinate cannabis seeds on napkins

It is possible to germinate seeds even on a napkin! That’s how easy the process is, if you follow the right steps. Before you begin, gather the materials you need:

  • Napkins or (better yet) absorbent paper.
  • A couple of plates or a food container with lid and opaque.
  • Water.
  • Gloves (better latex).

The plate or tapper will serve as a basis for the growth of the seeds. Place between 6 and 8 absorbent napkins on any of them. Also put warm water to soak them and drain them, so that they are simply moist.

Now place the seeds with sufficient separation between them. Take another 6 or 8 napkins and moisten them as well. When you’ve done that, put them on top of the seeds.

Now you take the second plastic plate or the lid of the food container and put it above the base. It is not necessary to close it completely, the important thing is that it does not give them light and that the humidity of the paper is maintained.

Ideally, the container should be in a warm place, but where it does not give light directly, with a temperature between 18ºC and 25ºC.

If you see the paper drying, use a sprayer to moisten it again. Keep watching the seeds germinate and transplant them when the root is 1 to 1.5 cm.

When they are ready (they will not grow at the same speed), water the soil where you are going to put them, make a hole in the substrate and place the seed with the root down, so that the plant continues its growth.

Germinate cannabis seeds in Jiffy

A Jiffy is a disc of peat pressed with soil that swells when moistened and serves precisely to germinate seeds.

With this method you only need the seeds, water and your Jiffy. Prepare water with a pH of 6.2 to 6.5. As you moisten the container you will see that it swells. When it is complete, squeeze lightly with your hand to release the excess water.

In the upper area of the Jiffy make an omen and place the seed. If you wonder about the ideal depth, it is recommended that it has 1.5 to 2 cm. Then cover again with soil without pressing.

The Jiffy should be placed in a warm place with a temperature between 18ºC and 25ºC, without direct sunlight, but always maintaining the humidity of the earth.

When you see the first leaves of the plant you can transplant it, although the ideal is to wait for its secondary roots to begin to appear on the sides.

Germinate marijuana seeds in a pot

Of course, you can also germinate seeds at home using a pot directly, but there are many variables to take into account and it is recommended that you have experience with this process.

If you use a seedling pot you will have more chances of success. Fill the pot with substrate at the proper levels and turn it on lightly.

Apply water with a pH of 6.2 to 6.5 and moisten the substrate until it begins to drain water.

Make the hole about 2 cm deep, wait a few minutes for the water to go down completely and place the seed. Then cover gently.

The substrate must remain moist at all times, but when the seed already germinates you will have to combine cycles of humidity and drought for perfect growth.
